The history of Buisman goes back to 1867 when Herman Buisman, a grocer and coffee roaster, started to produce caramelised sugar. Buisman Aroma was to enhance the flavour of coffee for generations of Dutch people. It was an original product from an original company that was to specialise increasingly in applications for caramelised sugar and caramels in the 20th century.
Buisman’s first successes in bread and confectionery were soon followed by various other segments of the food industry such as herbs and spices, meat and fish, sweets, beverages, sauces and soups.
Buisman has now been a recognised specialist in flavour and colour enhancement based on caramelised sugar and caramels for many decades.
